Ella's first "real" Easter egg hunt

Today Ella had her first real Easter egg hunt at our church. I say “real” because last year we just hid a few eggs in front of Mom & Dad’s house. She picked up the first one, popped it open, found M&Ms inside and was finished. Today the hunt was scheduled for noon and it looked like the weather wasn’t going to cooperate at all. But the rain stopped and the sun came out and it ended up being beautiful weather!

It was evident during the hunt that Ella hasn’t yet developed Mommy and Daddy’s (especially Daddy’s) competitive nature. I’m sure it will come with time. After she found a pink egg she kept saying “Mommy open the pink egg!” and had no desire to pick up anymore. Our friend Sharon relocated Ella to an area that hadn’t yet been raked clean, then she got into it and ended up with 10 or 11 eggs. Then she discovered that chocolate was inside. Maybe if I had told her that BEFORE the hunt she would have been more into it! She has definitely acquired Mommy’s love for chocolate!

There were several families there that we had never seen before. Our prayer is that they will be back tomorrow and if they don't know about the true meaning of Easter and Jesus's sacrifice for us that they soon will.
